My friend and holistic psychologist Michelle asked me to create a logo for her soon-to-be-open psychology practise. As she connects mind and body to 'open the gate' to a freer life for her clients, she asked me to work with the words opening gate and nature.
Starting with those words, I saw an overlap within the shapes of the first letter of her name 'M' and the shape of the opening gate. As a butterfly also opens up and resembles the connection to nature, I used the shape of the wings to make the shape feel more organic. As in her practise Michelle makes people 'unfold' themselves, I chose for a 'unfolding' effect within the shape to emphasise on the mission of her practise.
